New Year

I have really been falling down on the posting job!

There's no way I could post everything I've cooked since December, but I will report on some exciting discoveries and recent trends.

First, my newest favorite recipe is this one for Italian wedding soup. Once I got over the mental hurdle of touching raw meat for long enough to make a million tiny meatballs, it was so worth it. The kale is really tasty in this as well. I made it for the second time last night and it will remain in the rotation.

For the last two years my Super Bowl party contribution has been boneless buffalo wings, but it's hard to keep them warm in transit, so I branched out this year to buffalo chicken salad and made an amazing discovery in the process: 3 chicken breasts + half a bottle of buffalo sauce + a bit of butter in the crock pot for 6 hours on low = AMAZING shredded buffalo chicken. And so much healthier than wings! I put this on a romaine with a little blue cheese dressing. I would love to try this with other sauces... perhaps mole...

My other two obsessions as of late have been cocktails and ice cream. I've made white russian ice cream and chocolate peanut butter, and next up to try will be coffee oreo.

My new favorite cocktail is 2 oz bourbon or whiskey, 1/2 oz lemon juice, 1/2 ox maple syrup. So very delicious.
